Overview
Hold the Strip began with a seemingly simple observation: how often do we accept a pharmacist’s recommendation without fully understanding the medication we’re taking? That small act of trust led our group of three to explore the gap between the information printed on medicine labels and what patients can actually understand and use. Through research into prescription literacy, we examined how dense layouts, unfamiliar terminology, and the way medical information is communicated can leave people dependent on others to make informed decisions about their own health.
The project explores how thoughtful information design can make medication details more accessible, helping people move from blindly trusting instructions to understanding them with confidence. The accompanying research paper was selected by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) for presentation at the International Conference on Research into Design (ICoRD ’27)!
