Overview
Spirits of Mumbai is a pop-up travel guidebook collecting the whispers, sightings, and half-truths that drift through Mumbai after midnight. Inspired by stories exchanged over chai stalls and taxi rides, it brings the city’s urban legends to life through illustrated routes and places steeped in mystery.
As a designer, I used a primarily red, teal, and black palette to heighten the unease of each location, turning familiar spaces into something more ominous. Alongside the legends, I included historical context about each spot and the origins of its haunting, grounding the supernatural in the city’s lived past. My intention was to bring readers closer to Mumbai’s lesser-known stories - inviting them to look beyond the familiar, question what they know, and experience the city through the eyes of those who tell its tales.
